About this project

Patrimônio dos candidatos cross-references the asset declarations that candidates file with Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) at every election, from 2006 to 2026, eleven elections in total. It links each candidate's declarations across years by CPF, adjusts historical values to the same date using Brazil's official inflation index (IPCA, IBGE table 1737), and publishes the comparable result, alongside the exact limits of what the comparison can and cannot show.

The project is built and published by Nikolas de Hor, an independent developer based in Goiânia, GO, Brazil. It has no affiliation with the TSE, any political party, or any candidate covered on the site.

How it works

The underlying data comes from TSE's open data portal, the consulta_cand and bem_candidato datasets, for the six general elections (2006-2026) and the five municipal elections (2008-2024) in between. Values are corrected to a single reference month with the IPCA series published by IBGE. Declarations that are implausible on their face, such as a popular car priced at hundreds of millions of reais, are flagged and kept visible rather than deleted, because hiding a real candidate from the public record is a worse error than leaving one flagged.

Source and reproducibility

The processing scripts are published in the project's source repository, under the MIT license. The underlying TSE and IBGE datasets are public government open data and belong to their original sources; this project only cross-references and republishes derived, comparable figures.
